A guide to our selection process
Once you’ve found a vacancy that interests you and checked that you’re eligible to apply, just click on the ‘Apply Now’ button.
This will take you through to a form where first you’ll need to complete your personal details (including questions about your nationality, ethnicity and any disability which will be retained by our HR department and not seen by the selection panel).
The main part of the process is where you are asked to provide evidence against specific questions or competency examples which are related to the essential skills, knowledge and experience required for the post. You may also be asked to provide your educational and employment history.
Finally, check through your application and ensure that you’re satisfied with it – then press the submit button. You’ll receive an on-screen acknowledgement followed by an email.
Disability
It’s very important to let us know if you have a disability at this stage, so that we can make reasonable adjustments for you. These can include anything from different ways of applying (a paper-based application process for example) or adjustments to the interviewing process (perhaps a signer or special seating arrangements). We run the well recognised Guaranteed Interview Scheme, which means that if you meet the minimum criteria for the role, we will offer you an interview.
The panel will meet to shortlist the applications as soon as possible after the closing date for the specific vacancy, and you’ll be told via your registered email address whether or not you have been invited to interview. Please note that because of the volume of applications that we receive, it’s not possible for us to give you feedback on your application.
If you are invited to interview, you’ll receive an email including the time, date and venue, a list of what you need to bring with you and information about what will be involved (e.g. presentation, psychometric test etc.). The interview questions will be based around the key knowledge, skills, experience and competencies set out in the job profile.
After the interview you’ll, once again, receive the results via your registered email address.
To demonstrate our commitment to employing people with disabilities, the Charity Commission has signed up to the Employment Service ‘two ticks’ Disability Symbol and we are proud to be a Stonewall Diversity Champion which shows that we welcome applications from lesbian, gay and bisexual applicants. We are actively working with Stonewall to promote lesbian, gay and bisexual equality in the workplace.
