Nick Donaldson – Senior Liaison Officer, Large Charities Division
“The Civil Service and Charity Sector had always interested me as a career choice – I was looking on the Gateway website when I saw this vacancy. It sounded ideal – both because I felt I had the requisite skills, and because everything I’d heard about the personality of the organisation really fitted with my own.
The people are great to work with and their views are consistent with the Commission’s mission – they really believe in its aims. And the very open approach here means that there’s always someone to go to for guidance or advice.
The team I work on specialises in charities with an annual income of over £5 million – my work is specifically focused on faith based organisations, international charities and charities for young people. My job is very diverse, as part of it I often meet with trustees and professional advisers – something I find both enjoyable and helpful. Such contact helps me to understand the (extremely varied) issues charities face, as well as helping me to ensure they have a better understanding of our role as regulator.”
