The Data Protection Act 1998

The Commission complies with the data protection principles set out in the Data Protection Act 1998 in relation to personal data which you give to us via our website to the extent that the Act requires it to do so. These principles restrict the powers of a data controller to disclose to third parties personal data which it is processing.

Personal information on the application form is for monitoring purposes only and will not be made available to those assessing your application. The information supplied will be treated in the strictest confidence and will not affect your job application in any way.

Complaints

The Charity Commission’s recruitment processes are underpinned by the principle of selection for appointment on merit on the basis of fair and open competition as outlined in the Civil Service Commissioners’ Recruitment Code which can be found at www.civilservicecommissioners.org.  If you feel your application has not been treated in accordance with the Code and you wish to make a complaint, you should contact helen.tidmarsh@charitycommission.gsi.gov.uk in the first instance.  If you are not satisfied with the response you receive from the us, you can contact the Office of the Civil Service Commissioners
